Selected Colloquium 2: Adverse events: a neglected area in pharmacotherapeutics
This symposium will deal with the neglected area of adverse events in psychopharmacology. Adverse events are most commonly considered to be a major limitation factor in the clinical application of psychiatric medication treatment, but it is not uncommon to also mediate the therapeutic effect. In general there are not at the center of pharmaceutical research unless they pose a severe threat to the life or the somatic health of the patient. A major problem is that their reporting is usually idiosyncratic, follows no general protocols or definitions and this makes the comparison across studies and substances problematic
