Background: Indonesia is a disaster-prone region, making adolescents particularly susceptible to trauma-related symptoms following events such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Systematic reviews have shown that PTSD is linked to cognitive impairment and dementia, with neuroimaging studies identifying structural abnormalities primarily in the frontal, temporal (especially hippocampal), and parietal regions.
Aims & Objectives: - to report the case of a female adolescent with cognitive impairment in PTSD case.
- to highlight the effectiveness of SSRI administration in PTSD case.
- to integrate combined treatment approaches in PTSD case.
Method: Case report
Results: A female adolescent with cognitive complaints secondary to PTSD who showed significant improvement following a combined treatment approach of trauma-focused psychotherapy and fluoxetine.
Discussion & Conclusions: This case highlights the potential effectiveness of integrated therapeutic strategies and underscores the need for further research to guide treatment in an adolescent PTSD with cognitive involvement.
